The partnership, in the form of a grant, will place a graduate student from the University of Missouri – Columbia with the Saint Louis Zoo for the next two years. The primary focus for this student will be to assess the effects of STEADFAST on enhancing joint health in zoo animals. “Because zoos are dedicated to providing a long, healthy life for each of their animal residents, we are excited about the potential of this product in helping to maintain a high quality of life for zoo animals” explains Jeremy Moore, General Manager, Arenus.
The importance of animal nutrition and its affects on treating and/or preventing health issues is a new undertaking in zoos. The Saint Louis Zoo is fortunate to be one of a few that staffs an animal nutritionist, Dr. Ellen Dierenfeld.
