Milk production can suffer when cows are exposed to any levels of mycotoxins in feed. Lower performance negatively impacts a producers' profit. Poor quality forages can often have mycotoxins which lower performance and reduce reproduction in dairy cows. Additionally, mycotoxins have been shown to negatively impact a cow's immune status. Finally, high levels of aflatoxins can also require producers to dump milk because of human health concerns.
