Fats and oils as well as the oil in feeding ingredients undergo the natural process of oxidation as the fatty acids become unstable. The oxidation process starts slowly and rapidly accelerates depending on the type of fat and/or oil and the ingredients being used. The oxidation activity is known to reduce energy values of the feeding ingredient as well as produce toxic by-products of oxidation which negatively impact animal intake, performance and health.
