Inflammation is a physiological reaction to infection and when this happens at the intestinal tract level, the absorption process will be reduced. This results in low feed efficiency, with a direct impact on profitability. Bacterial presence is normal within the intestinal environment, but when the physiological balance is broken, an increased number of harmful bacteria can penetrate the intestinal cells causing infection and the consequent inflammation. An increased amount of free radicals (oxidative stress) or mycotoxicosis can cause the same effect.
