Dr. Charles Hofacre
Professor and Director of Clinical Services
PDRC, University of Georgia
Earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1984 from The Ohio State University and his Master’s of Avian Medicine (1985) and Ph.D. (1992) from The University of Georgia. Dr. Hofacre is a Diplomate of the American College of Poultry Veterinarians.
During his 26 years in the poultry industry, he has worked as Manager of Professional Services at Bayer Animal Health, as Head of Veterinary Services and as member of the Board of Directors at Ross Breeders, Inc. as well as Director of Veterinary Medicine at Cuddy Farms, Inc. In 1998,
Dr. Hofacre started working at The University of Georgia as an Associate Professor in the Department of Population Health College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2003, he was named Director of Clinical Services and Professor at Department of Population Health College of Veterinary Medicine at The University of Georgia. Dr. Hofacre holds three different patents and he had been a principal author and coauthor in more than 29 publications. He is also an author and coauthor in 12 book chapters. Dr. Hofacre has received more than 7 different awards from the poultry industry in the USA for his achievements and services.
His main areas of interest are clinical avian medicine and research in organisms that can cause food borne illness in people (Salmonella, E.coli, and Campylobacter). He also works with Dr. John Maurer and Dr. Margie Lee on finding ways to reduce antibiotic resistant bacteria on poultry products that could potentially cause bacteria in people. Dr. Hofacre is considered in the poultry industry to be a guru on the
Dr. Steve Roney

Was born and raised in the town of Newville in southeast Alabama. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1981 and a Master’s of Avian Medicine from the University of Georgia in 1987.
During Dr. Roney’s 24 years in poultry medicine, he has worked in technical services with both vaccine and pharmaceutical allied companies. He has also worked more than 9 years as a production veterinarian with two different broiler integrators.
Dr. Roney is currently a Senior Staff Officer with the USDA’s National Poultry Improvement Plan.
Dr. Andres Montoya

Received his Doctored in Veterinary Medicine from University of La Salle Bogota, Colombia in 1999 and his Master’s degree in Prevention of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California at Davis in 2005. He served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Population Health and Reproduction at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis from 2006 o 2007. Dr. Montoya also received a Master’s degree in Avian Medicine at University of Georgia in 2008. Dr. Montoya is a Diplomate of the American College of Poultry Veterinarian. He currently works at Novus International as a Technical Services Veterinarian.
