​Novus Names New Team for 2020 United Way Fundraising Campaign

SAINT CHARLES, MO (14 June 2020) – Since their company’s founding, employees and leadership at Novus International, Inc. have supported people and organizations in the communities where they work. This month, Novus announced a new team to lead the company’s largest fundraiser in the United States.

Jared Hux, associate director of methionine business, joins Senior Administrative Assistant Kim Lightfoot as the co-chairs for Novus’s 2020 United Way fundraising initiative.

The employee-led program originated in 1991 and was championed by Jeff Klopfenstein, the company’s executive vice president who retired earlier this year. In 28 years, Novus raised over $2 million dollars for United Way chapters serving St. Louis, Missouri; Little Rock, Arkansas; and Houston, Texas (specifically Brazoria County), areas where Novus’s headquarters and North America manufacturing facilities are located.

“Jeff was very passionate about Novus supporting the communities that we call home,” said Novus President and CEO Dan Meagher. “I wholeheartedly support continuing his legacy of giving and I know my North America colleagues appreciate the opportunity to spend a small part of their work day a few times a year participating in activities that help a cause so worthy as the United Way.”

Historically, the company has hosted a variety of activities during the month of October each year to raise funds for the three United Way chapters. These events have included raffles and trivia events as well as an annual golf tournament attended by employees and business partners.

Hux, who has participated on the Novus United Way fundraising committee in St. Louis since 2015 said, “I am very much looking forward to working with my colleagues on the United Way committee and various sub-committees so that we can continue to build upon the lasting impact that the generosity of Novus and its team members have had in our communities.”

Lightfoot, who has served on the committee since 2014 and as Employee Campaign Coordinator and co-chair of the campaign since 2015 said, “This has been a challenging year so far and I look forward to meeting with the team and brainstorming new ways to engage employees for this worthwhile cause.”

The United Way partnership is one of many that employees at Novus have established over the years for the company’s community engagement program. In the U.S. employees in Little Rock have contributed to Arkansas Foodbank; and in Missouri, Novus has supported Pedal the Cause, Meds and Food for Kids, St. Louis Area Foodbank, St. Louis Mosaic, the American Red Cross Greater St. Louis Chapter, Operation Food Search, the World Affairs Council of St. Louis, Saint Louis University’s Boeing Institute of International Business and others.
