Sr. Regional Sales Manager, North Europe

The opportunity:

  • This role leads the sales team, sales process, and customer interactions for the North European region that includes Scandinavia, UK and Ireland, Benelux, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Czech and Slovak Republics, Hungary, Romania and Baltic states.
  • The role is accountable for the development and execution of the sales plan via direct sales team, distributors and agents in the assigned region, and the optimal deployment of the business footprint for effective reach and delivery of solutions to key target customers.
  • The role operates with autonomy and latitude in decision making under general direction from Area General Manager.
  • The role manages a team of currently 5 direct and indirect subordinates and reports to the Area General Manager Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve or exceed sales targets for North Europe.
  • Establish sustainable long term business relationships with key customers in the assigned region.
  • Implementation of the strategy to develop the business with Global Key Accounts.
  • Develops 3-year business plans for the North Europe with integration of species and product line sales and marketing plans in close collaboration with regional marketing.
  • Lead the sales and marketing effort in the assigned region and the work of the sales team and maintain strong collateral cross-functional relationships with other regional managers and their sales teams, technical service group, regional marketing, and all functions (supply chain, customer relationship, regulatory, quality assurance, etc.) across EME.
  • Build capabilities of sales team into a broad, multiproduct/program and customer focused region.
  • Enhance the effectiveness of the organization through appropriate recruitment, training & development and management of people.
  • Manage the North European business to maximize profit short term and long term while creating value by customer centric approach.
  • Develop the right spirit within the Team and communication within the organization.
  • Develop and approve monthly S&OP forecast to meet customer requirements and Novus inventory/working capital objectives.
  • Maintain close relationships with customers to understand pains and decision making drivers.
  • Develop Novus’s sales strategies and forecast sales volumes for all products/channels in assigned region.
  • Oversee compliance and adhere to the Novus Management System (NMS) and Novus Integrity System (NIS) and all policies and procedures related to position assignment.

Skills and Experience

  • Advanced degree (MS/MBA) or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Animal Science or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of sales and marketing experience.
  • 8-10 years of supervisory experience over sales or related teams in strategic regions of Europe.
  • Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of sales and marketing to the completion of complex assignments.
  • Proven ability to manage direct sales teams, agents, and distribution channels with adequate planning and execution.
  • Team player.
  • Proven understanding of the livestock industry, thorough knowledge of the animal nutrition and health businesses.
  • Proven ability in developing and implementation of country level sales plans and business strategies that successfully and consistently achieve sales targets for region.
  • Proven ability to establish, grow and manage long-term relationships with customers for optimum results.
  • Strong leadership skills to set direction and keep multicultural, multifunctional teams reaching regional and global objectives.
  • Strong cross-functional skills to effectively work with colleagues, build relationships, manage conflict, and achieve broader group objectives.
  • Strong business management and financial skills to be able to understand and carry accountability for region-wide business plans, budgeting, forecasting, and financial statements.
  • Seasoned and pro-active self-achiever.

Required Language Skills

  • Fluent in English in addition to the mother tongue dependent on country of residence.
  • Other languages would be valuable.

Travel

  • The position requires frequent travel (> 50%).
