Unlocking Soybean Efficiency and Sustainable Solutions: NOVUS Leads Discussions at FENAVI Valle

VALLE DEL CAUCA, COLOMBIA (May 20, 2025) – NOVUS poultry experts are sharing insights on getting more from soybeans and leveraging sustainability efforts at the 22nd Encuentro Avícola del Pacífico/Pacific Poultry Meet, June 4-5 at the Pacific Valley Event Center in Colombia.
“Reports suggest that the poultry industry in Colombia will continue its upward trend in the coming years,” says Alessandro Lima, NOVUS Commercial Director for Latin America. “Knowing this, nutritionists, veterinarians and producers in the country are hungry for knowledge that will help them be competitive in the growing market.”
Gonzalo Rueda, NOVUS technical services manager for Colombia, will present findings on anti-nutritional factors in soybeans and how they impact nutrient availability and bird performance in a presentation titled, Advances in the use of Protease in the Control of Trypsin Inhibitors in Soybeans.
“With so many factors impacting the profitability of poultry production, it’s vital that producers and nutritionists understand how to get more from feed materials, especially soybean meal,” Rueda says. “Soybean genetics and processing result in variability that impacts the amount of protein accessible to the bird. My presentation explains the different reasons for this challenge and offers actionable solutions so producers and nutritionists can get the most from the diet.”
Rueda’s talk will begin at 9:00 a.m. local time on June 4.
Sustainability is not new to the poultry industry. Environmental, operational and fiscal sustainability are the pillars of a lasting poultry operation.
In his talk, Environmental and Financial Sustainability, Inseparable Allies of a Decision Process, NOVUS Sr. Regional Technical Services Lead David Sanchez Torres will explain advancements in poultry genetics, management, and nutrition that have brought the industry to where it is today and the technological advances that can take it into tomorrow and beyond.
“I’ll share the latest trends regarding sustainability and how to take advantage of efficiencies in a competitive market,” Torres says.
Torres’ presentation will begin at 11:30 a.m. local time on June 5.
Sponsored by the Valle branch of the National Federation of Poultry Farmers of Colombia (FENAVI), the Encuentro Avícola del Pacífico is where the poultry industry takes center stage.
