At NOVUS, Dr. Drwencke supports the C.O.W.S. Program, conducting on farm assessments that evaluate farm management and cow behavior, comfort and welfare. Her evaluations help dairy producers in the western United States and Canada improve the health and productivity of their cows so they can meet production and financial goals.  

Before joining NOVUS, Dr. Drwencke served as regional dairy management specialist with Cornell Cooperative Extension where she worked with farms in the Southwestern New York region. 

She has degrees in animal science from Michigan State University and animal biology with a research focus on heat stress in dairy cattle from University of California, Davis. She also earned her doctorate degree in animal behavior from UC-Davis where her research focused on pain from routine management procedures in dairy calves.  

She is a member of the American Dairy Science Association, the Dairy Cattle Welfare Council, a Kinder Ground board member, and she is a Professional Animal Auditor Certification Organization (PAACO) certified auditor.
