Novus: Update on Texas Methionine Plant
REUS, SPAIN (1 March 2021) – On 19 February, Novus International, Inc., announced that severe winter storms Uri and Viola were causing major disruptions across the southern central United States, including operations at its manufacturing facility in Chocolate Bayou, Texas where Novus makes methionine hydroxy analogue (HMTBa) for its ALIMET® feed additive.
This week as electricity, water and other necessary utilities return to the site, Novus’s team in Texas began a full facility assessment, which is expected to be complete by 5 March. The initial assessment has found damage to the facility, but the team is optimistic and working to make the necessary repairs. Novus is pleased with the collaboration from the teams in Texas in securing resources to support the assessment and restoration of operations, including crews and materials for repairs.
Novus is working closely with its customers to keep them informed of situations that may affect them.
